2008 PEACE JAM GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION, SEPT 11-13 - OPPORTUNITIES FOR 14-18 YEAR OLDS TO MEET NOBEL LAUREATES
This September 11-13, 2008, the PeaceJam Foundation will be bringing seven Nobel Peace Laureates to Los Angeles to spend three days with over 3,000 Southern California, national and international youth ages 14-18 in a global call to action to take on some of the toughest challenges facing our planet. Nobel Peace Laureates including Desmond Tutu, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Jody Williams, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Jose Ramos-Horta, Shirin Ebadi, and Betty Williams will inspire and work with youth to kick off a campaign to create one billion acts of service over the next ten years.

Are You Ready for S.L.A.P.?
The Saving L.A. Project (SLAP) received wide media coverage following the "Bastille Day in L.A." rally on the 14th of July.
As agreed, SLAP will be continued during a Town Hall meeting this Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Glassell Park Community/Senior Center, 3750 N. Verdugo Rd., starting at 2:00 p.m. SLAP is committed to organizing a broad-based, citywide coalition that will empower our communities to take back Los Angeles from the special interest groups and persons who are running City Hall and our elected officials.
